The hawkers ensure that on the last two Sundays in July from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. you can find everything that makes a good general market: from vegetable slicers to knives, scissors, household goods, everything to do with ironing, cleaning and baking, textiles for young people and old, flowers, leather goods, accessories and fly screens.
The diverse gastronomic offering is also impressive. Roasted almonds, cotton candy and sweets, tarte flambée, tree striezel or simply “just” a Bratwurst with French fries, an ice cream, a cup of coffee or a piece of cake are just some of the many delicacies that you can find at the market.
The passenger ferry “Nixe” is extending its travel times on both Jakobs Market Sundays and runs from 10:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
On Caracciola Square on the Rhine promenade there is a small “fairground” with a carousel for children, toys and sweets, a shooting gallery, ball throwing and a duck fishing game. The showmen also open their shops every day between the first and second Sunday of the Jakobsmarkt. There, small and large children can ride on the children's carousel until late in the evening, go duck fishing, test their aim at the shooting gallery or simply buy something sweet or something to play with.
The advertising group “Remagen likes me” invites you to Sunday shopping and has one or two bargains available in the shops in the city center. Of course, the many galleries in the Historical Triangle are also open and presenting their current exhibitions.
As part of the Jakobs Market, lost property will be auctioned off publicly in front of the Remagen town hall on one of the Sundays (date to be announced). A large number of children's, women's and men's bicycles as well as many other attractive lost property usually come 'under the hammer'.
At the Jakobs Market there is a children's flea market on Bachstrasse on both market days. Children up to 14 years old can sell toys and other things from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
