Under the motto “Op dem Maat jidd et (fas) alles”, almost 200 traders are expected in Remagen every year for the traditional Jakobsmarkt. They ensure that on the last two Sundays in July, from 11.00 to 18.00, you can find everything that makes a good market: From vegetable slicers to knives, scissors, household goods, everything to do with ironing, cleaning and baking, textiles for young and old, flowers, leather goods, accessories and even fly screens.
The diverse gastronomic offerings are also impressive. Roasted almonds, candy floss and sweets, tarte flambée, Baumstriezel or “just” a bratwurst with chips, an ice cream, a cup of coffee or a slice of cake are just some of the many delicacies you can find at the market.
The “Rummelplatz” is also open between the first and second Jakobsmarkt Sundays
On Caracciola-Platz on the Rhine promenade, there is a small “fairground” with a carousel for children, toys and sweets, a shooting gallery, ball throwing and a duck fishing game. The showmen also open their stores every day between the first and second Jakobsmarkt Sundays. Children of all ages can ride the children's carousel into the evening, fish for ducks, test their aim at the shooting gallery or simply buy something sweet or something to play with.
The advertising association “Remagen mag ich” invites you to an open Sunday and has one or two bargains to offer in the stores in the city center. Of course, the many galleries in the Historic Triangle will also be open to showcase their current exhibitions.
As part of the Jakobsmarkt, lost property is auctioned off publicly in front of Remagen town hall on one of the two Sundays. A large number of children's, ladies' and men's bicycles as well as many other attractive lost property items usually go under the hammer.
There will be a children's flea market in Bachstraße on both days of the Jakobsmarkt. Children up to the age of 14 can sell toys and other items from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Participation in the flea market is free of charge and possible without prior registration. However, the sale of new goods is not permitted.
