In the 1960s, Fatih Cevikkollu's parents came to Germany as migrant workers from Turkey. Actually, it should only be a short stay. Symbolically for the early return and the great happiness at home, there was a whole wall of boxes where everything that was beautiful and valuable was stowed – for later life in Turkey. Cevikkollu tells the story of his parents' lives in Germany, but above all about his mother, who suffered from a severe psychosis. What does it do with people when they eventually realize: The dream of returning has not been fulfilled? A book that explores the consequences of labour migration and makes visible the wounds that it has left in the families to this day.
Fatih à evikkollu is a German cabaret artist, theatre, film and television actor and son of Turkish parents who came to Germany as migrant workers in the 60s. He studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and then went to the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. On television he played the role of Murat Günaydin in Alles Atze. He was awarded the Prix Pantheon Jury Prize for his first solo programme Fatihland in 2006.
