This year, there is once again a unique opportunity to visit the famous Mäuseturm. The historic tower on the Rhine island can only be visited with the boat tours organised by Bingen Tourismus & Kongress GmbH.
There are many exciting legends and tales surrounding the Mäuseturm - the most famous one tells of the heartless Bishop Hatto of Mainz, who was allegedly eaten by mice. But the actual history is also fascinating: from a medieval customs station to a signalling station for shipping traffic, the tower has an eventful past. The special highlight is the climb up the tower, with a fantastic view over Bingen and the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
The tour starts at Binger Kulturufer, from where you take the boat to Mäuseturm Island.
On the boat, you are welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine or juice and a pretzel.
On the island, the Bingen tour guides will give you a warm welcome and then guide you around the island and into the tower. You will learn exciting stories and interesting background information about the tower and its history. The highlight is, of course, the view from the tower of the Middle Rhine Valley and Bingen. After an hour, the boat returns to the Kulturufer.
