During ‘Worms Blossoms,’ the central streets and squares of Worms are transformed into a fragrant garden of colourful flowers, shrubs and bouquets. Florists, garden centres, decorators, arts and crafts and other specialist retailers present the diverse trends of spring in the city centre for visitors to admire, purchase and learn about. The entire pedestrian zone, the adjacent flower beds and the market square are included in the event.
Every year, right on time for the promotional weekend, bright flowers populate the ‘green belt’ of Worms, the park along the former city wall. Each year, a new colour scheme is designed for the planting of the city's green spaces in spring and summer.
Once again, the city administration's Parks and Waterways Department, together with the municipal gardeners of the Waste Disposal and Construction Company AöR of the City of Worms (ebwo), is responsible for creating the springtime atmosphere.
Violets, horned violets, ranunculus, wallflowers, forget-me-nots and more were produced as always by the city's horticultural department and planted by ebwo gardeners. Last year, 40,000 plants of 18 species and varieties embellished the Nibelungen city with the colour theme ‘pink-purple-white’ in a natural, impressionistic millefleurs style. In addition, there are 27,000 tulips of 14 varieties.
