The Ahr Gate (Ahrtor) is the largest of the four gates in the ring of Ahrweiler town walls. The outer archway is made of trachyte, an effusive rock from Drachenfels.

The Ahr Gate is the largest of the four gates in the town wall of Ahrweiler. It consists of a gate tower and two flanking three-storey half-towers.

The gate was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt with donations in 1957. [Source: Wikipedia]
