MADONNA IN THE ROSE ARBOUR

The Madonna in the Rose Arbour is certainly one of the most famous pictures by the painter Stephan Lochner.

The Virgin Mary in the Rose Arbour is certainly one of the most famous paintings by Stephan Lochner (* around 1400 in Meersburg - † 1451 in Cologne).

Painted on oak wood, the portrait shows the Virgin Mary sitting on a grassy bench with the Christ Child on her lap, surrounded by angels. This is one of the most touching depictions of the Madonna. This immeasurable treasure can be admired in the medieval section of the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne.
