The rococo Engers Castle in the Neuwied district of Engers is one of the most beautiful castles on the Rhine and is located directly on the river.
It was commissioned by the Archbishop of Trier and Elector Philipp von Waldersdorff and created between 1758 and 1762 by the best artists in Germany. The courtyard of honour is still completely surrounded by a wrought-iron fence
The flair of the castle, which now serves as a registry office, conference hotel, hotel and museum and exhibition building, makes every event an unforgettable experience.
The castle has belonged to the ‘Villa Musica Rheinland Pfalz’, a foundation of the Rhineland-Palatinate state government with the participation of the Südwestrundfunk Academy for Chamber Music in Engers Castle.
The castle's restaurant serves culinary delights as well as ‘small bites’ on the sun-drenched Rhine terrace.
On 5 November 2009, State Secretary for Culture Prof. Dr Joachim Hoffmann Göttig presented the Rhine Valley ‘Schloss Engers - Neuwied’ to the public in the Dianasaal of the castle.
