When pre-Christmas magic fills the streets, the smell of gingerbread and mulled wine wafts through Linz, and the historic houses and alleys glow romantically, it's finally Christmas time in Linz again. That's when the “colorful city on the Rhine” transforms into a cozy Christmas village, from the Rheintor to the Neutor.
Cozy lounge areas in modern pagoda tents on the market square invite you to linger and enjoy fragrant mulled wine, whatever the weather. A variety of culinary offerings and changing live music on the weekends round off the experience.
When designing the Linz Christmas Magic, the city of Linz and the Linz advertising association place particular emphasis on sustainability and regionality. Commercial goods are deliberately avoided. Local, regional, and partly private exhibitors offer traditional and partly individual handicrafts, homemade delicacies, or lovingly designed gift ideas.
The furniture, decorations, and signposts are made from natural materials and mostly recycled wood.
Handcrafted, lovingly decorated wooden paneling transforms the many owner-operated shops and pagoda tents on the market square into small, charming Christmas market stalls.
Look forward to a romantic Christmas village, delicious treats, Linz arts and crafts, exciting competitions, and much more.
