Christmas market around the cathedral

Every year, hundreds of festive stalls offer their wares at the Mainz Christmas market on the squares surrounding the city's Cathedral of St. Martin. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, there are concerts and stage events to enjoy, among them the traditional fairy tale production at the State Theatre beloved by generations. On demand and with existing capacities there is the possibility to print Christmas motifs in the print shop of the Gutenberg-Museum.

Numerous cathedral concerts and matinees, the traditional fairy tale performance in the Mainz State Theatre and the popular Christmas card printing in the Gutenberg Museum print shop are just as much a part of the special Christmas attractions in Mainz, as are the many other smaller Christmas markets in the city centre and in the city area.

History
And the Mainz Christmas Market looks back on a long tradition: Already more than 200 years ago, since 1788, there was the "Nicolose Market".

Opening times:
Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 - 20:30
Friday and Saturday from 11:00 - 21:00
On December 23rd, the Christmas market ends at 7 p.m.
