The birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven is a high-profile memorial for people from all over the world. It is the center of attraction of the music city of Bonn. The museum houses the largest Beethoven collection in the world. Beethoven's life and work is made clear using impressive, authentic documents.
In addition to the exhibitions in Beethoven's birthplace, museum visitors have been able to find a studio for digital collections and a stage for music visualization in the neighboring Digital Beethoven House since December 2004.
The Beethoven Archive, founded in 1927, is the central documentation point for Beethoven's biography and work, his intellectual circle and the history of his influence. It collects the scattered evidence in original form or photographic reproduction, pursues its own extensive research and edition projects and also supports external projects in an advisory capacity.
The Beethoven House library collects printed music and literature about Beethoven and his intellectual environment. In the area of scientific publications and first musical editions, the aim is to be as complete as possible. The holdings are accessed via catalogs and are accessible in the reading room, the first editions also in the digital archive.
Its exquisite furnishings and excellent acoustics make the Hermann J. Abs Chamber Music Hall one of the most successful of its kind in Europe. Since it opened in 1989, it has developed into an important venue for a wide variety of events (concerts, conferences, special celebrations). The varied program appeals to many music lovers.
The Beethoven-Haus Bonn publishing house documents and disseminates the scientific work carried out in the Beethoven archive. It also offers a publication forum for external Beethoven research.
