Nestled at the foot of the Eifel and bordered by the good old ‘Father Rhine’, the Celts already appreciated the climatic advantages and marvellous surroundings of the Breisiger Ländchen.
The name ‘Brysich’ (jagged rocks), which was once given to the small settlement, perfectly reflects the scenic surroundings. The Celtic settlement later became the Roman ‘Brisiacum’.
Today, a stay in Bad Breisig is an à la carte holiday experience: for the health-conscious... active in sports and yet close to nature. For those hungry for exercise... on the flat Rhine cycle path, or with a game of tennis or squash. For hiking enthusiasts... Enjoy the charming hilly and wooded landscape with well-developed and signposted hiking trails. For the fitness-conscious... a visit to the Roman thermal baths with sauna area and fitness studio. The fairytale forest, the doll museum, the icon museum and the mini-golf course in the spa gardens also contribute to the town's attractive offerings on the romantic Rhine. A boat trip on one of the many lines travelling to Bad Breisig is always a special experience.
Bad Breisig's trademark is its thermal water, which bubbles up from four springs: The Geyersprudel, the Ludgerussprudel, the Mariensprudel and the Gertrudisquelle. The water from the healing, warm springs creates the basis for fitness and relaxation. Pure thermal bathing fun in crystal-clear thermal water is offered by the modern Roman thermal baths, whose water temperature is 30°C in the indoor pool and 28°C or 32°C in the outdoor pools and 34°C in the hot whirl pool, with an integrated sauna area, Roman steam bath, log cabin sauna, bio sauna, Finnish sauna and much more. The tourist information centre offers attractive fitness and health packages centred around thermal bathing.
The Brunnenfest festival with its large antique and flea market in May or June each year (Ascension Day) is all about the thermal springs. Gourmets can experience international culinary delights during the annual ‘Culinary Week’ (mid/end of July), which concludes with the Summer Night Festival with fireworks (last Saturday in July) over the Rhine. The famous ‘Zwibbelsmaat’ (third weekend in September) is an age-old tradition.
As you can see, Bad Breisig is worth a visit at any time of year.
We look forward to your visit!
