Klimperkasten is a 1920s-style bar with a unique collection of historic cinema machines (“Mutoscopes”), illusion and sports machines, and self-playing musical instruments from the 1920s that play every hour.
Thanks to the popularity among our guests and the dedication of our employees, musicians, and artists, Papa Joe's Klimperkasten has become an institution in Cologne over the past 32 years.
The Pneuphoniker
A world first – the world's first self-playing sousaphone/accordion orchestra!
Two life-size figures play – live (no CDs!) and without electronic sound generation – on the accordion and sousaphone (in Klimperkasten, Tünnes un Schäl play the tuba/accordion version).
The restaurant seats approximately 130 people inside and 150 people outside. You can enjoy not only drinks but also hearty delicacies from the kitchen. Papa Joe spoils his guests with changing brewery specialties, salads, soups, and much more. We also offer buffets for groups of 20 or more upon advance reservation.
For beer connoisseurs and connoisseurs, there are draft beers on tap: Gaffel-Kölsch, Königs Pils, and Schneider Weizenbier.
