The Freundeskreis Eisenbahn Köln e.V. has set itself the task of preserving the valuable vehicles of the historic RHEINGOLD train in the long term.
The Freundeskreis Eisenbahn Köln e.V., or FEK for short, was founded in 1955. It is the traditional owner and operator of the historic RHEINGOLD train.
It sees itself as a traditional organisation for the historic Rheingold train. The FEK gradually acquired some of the former RHEINGOLD carriages and restored them to their original condition, both inside and out. It has set itself the task of preserving these valuable vehicles in the long term and, if possible, keeping them operational.
The FEK has been organising regular trips with lovingly restored carriages from the 1920s and 1960s since 1970. The organisation currently has over 230 members and offers a wide range of activities. The FEK has its own clubhouse in the area of the former DB depot in Cologne-Nippes. The address is: Köln-Bilderstöckchen, Longericher Str. 214, where there is a small exhibition on the history of the Rheingold train, as well as the club's own library.
The active members of the FEK are involved in maintaining the Rheingold carriages. They usually meet on Saturdays at the Cologne-Nippes depot to carry out work on the vehicles, prepare the carriages for special trips and accompany them on their journeys. Get actively involved and help us with these tasks. Get in touch under ‘Contact’ and find out more.
